Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up medical records prior to resident admission
- Review and audit records regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance with facility policies
- Communicate documentation deficiencies to the Administrator and Director of Nursing
- Provide required information to the business office to support admissions
- Process and send correspondence to physicians
- Manage records for transfers and discharges, maintaining accurate documentation for discharged residents
- Organize, file, and store medical records in compliance with policies and regulations
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all medical record information
- Prepare reports, statistics, and documentation as requested by leadership
- Provide records for interdisciplinary meetings and audit charts prior to conferences to correct deficiencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred
- At least one year of experience in a similar role preferred
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new systems
- Must pass a criminal background check and reference screening
