Description
The Senior Specification Engineer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining design and construction specifications that ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with WMATA's engineering and operational standards. This role provides expert guidance in formulating, evaluating, and integrating specifications to support the successful execution of capital and construction projects.
Key responsibilities include formulating solutions to resolve design specification issues, analyzing submittals for conformance with WMATA's Standard Design Criteria and Construction Specifications, and identifying deficiencies or inconsistencies in construction specifications and drawings. The Senior Specification Engineer collaborates across WMATA offices to ensure that all specifications are consistent with procurement regulations, legal contract clauses, and the WMATA Compact.
This position requires advanced knowledge of engineering and construction standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage technical documentation across complex projects. The Senior Specification Engineer plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality, consistency, and compliance of design specifications, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of WMATA's infrastructure initiatives.
Requirements
Education/ Experience
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field.
Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and review of contract/standards specifications.
