Job purpose:
The primary role of the CompeerCORPS Outreach Leader is to connect with agencies and groups serving veterans to share information, develop partnerships, and recruit volunteers and participants for the CompeerCORPS matches and the Untold Valor Podcast.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Outreaches, interfaces, and develops relationships with social services, mental health professionals, Delaware County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the VA, and groups serving veterans to inform each about the CompeerCORPS program
- Recruits, interviews, and matches veteran friends and veteran volunteers based on gender, experiences, likes, and interests
- Develops annual goals and timelines for CompeerCORPS with the Compeer Director and ensures the implementation of steps for successful fulfillment of those goals
- Communicates updates and activities with the Compeer Director through routine updates and by submitting the required monthly reports
- Identifies and supports speakers for the Untold Valor Podcast
- Co-hosts Untold Valor Podcast
- Establishes and maintains a friendship with a matched veteran friend of the same gender
- Assists with orientation of new volunteers
- Participates in training the veteran volunteers
- Has an organized system for retrieving information
- Attends events and resource fairs to distribute information
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a veteran
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to organize, plan, and implement plans on time and follow through to completion
- Good communication skills (verbal, written, and body language)
- Personable, likes people, empathetic, and has a collaborative attitude
- Ability to see the “big picture” – work with and understand systems
- Knowledge of computer, preferably Microsoft Office, and ability to send and receive emails
- Marketing experience preferred but not required
Employment Type:
- Part-time (15 hours per week)
Pay Scale:
- $22/hr
