Vogelzang Law, a mid-sized plaintiff’s law firm in downtown Chicago, is seeking an energetic and dynamic Public and Union Relations Associate to join our team. The Public and Union Relations Associate will focus on promoting the firm through various internal/external events and will report to the firm’s head of Public Relations/Union Liaison. They must be located in the Chicagoland area and will be required to work weekends and extended hours at various events across the country. They will be in direct contact with potential clients and established contacts and must be upbeat, personable, and able to communicate in many different contexts (i.e., social, charitable, networking, professional, grieving client, etc.). Diligence, sociability, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal communication skills are required for this position.
This is a full-time position with travel required. The Public and Union Relations Associate must have their own vehicle (although they will also be driving the company vehicle on occasion) and a valid driver’s license. Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Completely and accurately enters data related to public relations activities, with no mistakes for reporting purpose.
• Travels to events alone or with other staff.
• Communicates and pitches firm’s mission, services and other details to union members and other parties as necessary.
• Collects accurate names and unions of individuals for purposes of data entry.
• Prepares for events by stuffing bags, loading vehicles with merchandise/company branded items and mailings.
• Travels to collect PR items from vendors.
• Ensures tasks are completed in timely manner; calendaring of PR events.
• Assists PR team in developing communication strategies based on research or delegation.
• Manages a running inventory of PR materials in both onsite and offsite storage.
• Completes filing, copying, physical mailings, and emailing and other administrative tasks as necessary.
• Responds to public inquires.
• Maintains the public relations database.
• Researches industry-specific sites for relevant marketing information.
• Serves as lead staff at events alone, with intern, or with contracted staff, with a high level of autonomy.
• Drives company vehicle safely and with no tickets incurred.
• May supervise and/or manage Public Relations interns.
• Assists PR Director with planning, coordination, and management of the annual VL golf Outing and any other firm-hosted events (White Sox games, holiday parties, etc.). Documents events with pictures to post on social medias.
Qualifications
• The qualified candidate must possess at a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for a bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license and own a personal vehicle.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• An upbeat personality and excellent verbal and written communicator.
• Experience with Salesforce and Google Suites a plus.
