- Job Description:** Lead engineering duties in planning and coordinating the day-to-day activities of a customer or product focused design team for railroad projects, including managing the Fixation Laboratory Team. Establishment and management of Fixation Laboratory Test Schedule based on quality and development goals. Oversight of Fixation Laboratory Procurement and Budget process and vendor/supplier relationships. Review and approval of Rail Fixation Technical Reports. Capital investment planning for test equipment and facilities. Develop and execute annual Fixation R&D Budget and Product Development Plan. Supervise and provide feedback for all the Rail Fixation R&D Product Design Development efforts, and ensure that all required design components (drawings, BOMs, ITPs, etc.) are practical and completed with a high degree of accuracy. Develop and review of intellectual propriety claim submittals alongside vaRS Nortrak Legal Team. Assist and/or create Customer Request for Information (RFI) to clarify information needed for projects, by including relevant information, customer specifications, and/or details required, and develop and supervise suppliers and vendors for product prototyping, quoting, ordering, and supervision. Develop manufacturing and quality processes for Rail Fixation Products, including being responsible for validation and verification of new products including laboratory protocols and procedures, test method selection, project and personnel scheduling and release of new products for manufacturing. Provide advanced technical support for clients and participate in Industry technical committees.

- Job Requirements: **Requires a Master's OR Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related field and related post bachelor's progressive experience (3 years with Master's OR 5 years with Bachelor's) which must include some experience in each of the following skills:
- Designing high-performance and cost-efficient railway fixation components utilizing engineering plastics, prestressed reinforced concrete, elastomers, steels, and ductile iron under design for manufacturing (DFM) engineering environments.
- Theoretical structural analysis of railway track behavior under moving loads, including high-speed track, impact loading, and heavy tonnage applications to develop tailored structural models using programming and numeric computing applications such as MathWorks MatLab.
- Developing and maintaining state-of-the-art standards and recommendations applicable to the North American railroad market through active participation in at least one relevant railroad industry focused technical association such as the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) the Transportation Research Board (TRB), or the American Railroad Engineering and Maintenance-of Way Association (AREMA).
- 3D Modeling, 2D Drafting and Non-Linear muti step structural simulations of mechanical components utilizing Computer Aided Design and Finite Element software (Siemens NX, Simcenter, and NX Nastran), and Product Lifecycle Management Software (Siemens Teamcenter).
- Formulation, mechanical testing, process development, and quality control of elastomeric and thermoplastic compounds for structural applications including troubleshooting of processes involving mechanical bonding of metals with elastomers.
- Conceptualizing, deploying, and troubleshooting of instrumentation campaigns using strain gauges, accelerometers, geophones, potentiometers, and other displacement-based sensors for the structural analysis and ch racterization of full-scale components on field and laboratory applications, including management and processing of the large data acquired into actionable insights and reports through programming and numeric computing platforms such as MathWorks MatLab.
- Managing, using, and maintaining mechanical testing laboratory facilities using servo-hydraulic and electrical testing equipment for execution of ASTM, ISO and AREMA testing standards under ISO 17025 guidelines.
