Position Overview:
VRSI is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with strong expertise in QuickBooks Online to join our team. This position plays a key role in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, grant-related financial reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate is experienced in grant-based accounting and can independently manage complex financial data, generate reports, and ensure compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and GAAP requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all financial operations within QuickBooks Online, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all accounts
Establish and maintain best practices for QB usage, including chart of accounts structure, class and location tracking, and internal controls
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process within QB, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement generation
Supervise and support team members in QB related tasks such as AP/AR entries, bank reconciliations, and payroll journal postings
Develop and generate custom financial and grant reports using QB tools to support strategic decision-making and compliance reporting
Monitor and resolve discrepancies in real time by reviewing transaction entries, bank feeds, and vendor/customer accounts
Ensure accurate classification of all income and expenses, especially related to multi-grant or program-specific funding
Lead the preparation of audit-ready reports and supporting documentation
Maintain data integrity by conducting periodic reviews and cleanups of the QB file
Train internal staff on QB functionality, reporting, and updates to promote system-wide accuracy and compliance
Prepare and track Department of Labor (DOL) drawdowns and grant reimbursements
Create and manage grant-specific budgets and financial reports
Ensure compliance with GAAP, DOL requirements, and federal grant guidelines
Stay up to date with changes in federal, state, and local tax regulations affecting grant accounting
Protect confidential information and ensure accuracy in all financial records
Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Perform other accounting-related duties as needed
Lead, mentor, and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliations, and adherence to internal controls and company policies
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 2 years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online in a professional accounting role
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Experience:
Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor or equivalent QBO certification
Experience working with DOL grants or other federal/state funded program
CPA or progress toward CPA licensure
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $25–$45 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
