Responsibilities Not Limited To
Benefits Strategy & Administration
- Recommend, implement, and maintain employee benefit programs, including health, retirement, and ancillary benefits
- Evaluate benefit options based on business needs, cost, employee impact, and compliance requirements
- Ensure benefit plans comply with federal, state, and applicable collective bargaining agreements
- Develop and maintain benefit policies and procedures
- Manage annual benefits budget and monitor ongoing plan performance against budget
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all benefits-related inquiries
- Design and execute communication strategies for new and existing employees
- Conduct benefits meetings and provide clear documentation and guidance
- Ensure timely communication of plan updates, changes, and enrollment deadlines
- Coordinate issue resolution between employees and insurance carriers
- Manage benefits coordination for employees on FMLA, disability, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs
- Administer COBRA notifications and maintain required reporting and compliance records
- Maintain accurate benefit records (electronic and hardcopy) in compliance with HIPAA
- Ensure accurate enrollment data entry and payroll deduction processing
- Reconcile and approve benefit billing and carrier invoices
- Maintain and update Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs)
- Develop and provide census and compliance reporting
- Audit benefit plans including 401(k), pension, and other programs
- Drive transition to online benefits administration using Paylocity or similar systems
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
- Actively contribute ideas to improve employee benefit programs and administrative efficiency
- Provide backup support to Payroll as needed
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5 years of hands-on benefits administration experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or multi-site environment strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of federal and state HR/benefits regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
- Strong risk awareness and compliance mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Approximately 5% travel to VMC locations (CA, NJ, TX)
