Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of roofing systems using hand tools, power tools, and roofing materials. Prepare job sites by setting up scaffolding, safety barriers, and staging areas to ensure a safe working environment. Carry out heavy lifting of roofing materials such as shingles, metal panels, or membrane sheets to facilitate efficient project progress. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans to understand specific roofing requirements. Utilize construction estimating skills to assist in material ordering and project planning. Perform tasks related to framing, metal stud framing, or trim carpentry as needed for roof structures or related components. Support other trades such as masonry, plumbing, or carpentry during multi-disciplinary projects involving restoration or remodeling work. Maintain safety standards by adhering to OSHA regulations and using personal protective equipment at all times. Conduct surface preparation including caulking, stucco application, or tile laying to ensure proper sealing and finishing. Assist with fabrication and installation of roofing components using welding or other metalworking techniques when required.
Experience
Previous experience working on construction sites with exposure to roofing projects is highly preferred. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, schematics, and blueprint reading is essential for effective job performance. Experience in related trades such as masonry, framing carpentry, restoration work, or handyman tasks is advantageous. Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and safety procedures for working at heights is necessary. Hands-on experience with construction estimating or project planning can be beneficial but is not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in team environments while maintaining high safety standards is required.
