The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust automation frameworks that ensure the quality and reliability of our complex web-based cloud applications, desktop software, and device/instrument workflows. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and scientific teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality products that meet rigorous functional, performance, and usability standards.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents; provide actionable and timely feedback to engineering and product teams.
• Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test strategies, and test cases.
• Architect, build, and maintain robust, scalable test automation frameworks for web-based cloud applications, desktop applications and device & instrument workflows.
• Execute planned and exploratory tests to uncover edge cases, functional defects, and usability issues.
• Identify, document, and track defects with precise reproducible details.
• Perform comprehensive regression testing, executing both manual and automated test cases, prior to release.
• Produce clear reports on test progress, automation coverage, defect trends, and overall product quality.
• Track and communicate QA metrics to engineering leadership.
• Evaluate and adopt modern testing tools, technologies, and best practices for automation, performance, and security testing.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience in software QA, ideally in senior or lead roles.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, automation strategies, and SDLC processes.
• Hands-on experience with automated UI and API testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, testRigor, TestComplete, or similar).
• Skilled in writing clear and maintainable test scripts.
• Experience testing both web/cloud and desktop applications.
• Comfortable working with scientific or data-heavy applications.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Experience with performance, load, or security testing tools.
