Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to support and elevate our clinical development organization through data-driven insights, scalable analytics, and effective BI solutions. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on analytics capabilities, and requires familiarity with the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, particularly in areas related to clinical research and development. The position is hybrid and based in Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of BI tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to support clinical development, clinical operations, biometrics, and portfolio strategy.
- Partner closely with clinical, medical, regulatory, and operational teams to understand data needs and translate them into actionable insights.
- Manage the end-to-end analytics lifecycle from requirements gathering and data modeling to visualization and delivery.
- Oversee data quality, governance, and standardization across clinical and operational datasets.
- Conduct exploratory analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within clinical trial performance, patient enrollment, site productivity, and related KPIs.
- Utilize Python and other analytics tools to build and automate data pipelines, perform statistical analysis, or support advanced analytics initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT, data engineering, and external partners to ensure BI infrastructure meets evolving business needs.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior analysts or BI developers.
- Present findings to senior stakeholders and contribute to decision-making for portfolio planning and clinical strategy.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data strategy roles.
- Prior exposure to pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments—ideally within clinical development, clinical operations, biometrics, or R&D.
- Strong proficiency in modern BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Looker).
- Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation, automation, and basic analysis.
- Solid understanding of SQL, data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and best practices for dashboard/report design.
- Ability to analyze complex clinical and operational datasets and communicate insights clearly.
- Experience leading cross-functional analytics initiatives and influencing decision-making at various levels.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment within Massachusetts.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with clinical trial management systems (CTMS), EDC platforms, safety databases, or R&D systems.
- Familiarity with statistical concepts used in clinical research.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or modern data stack tools.
- Background in supporting or managing a small BI/analytics team.
