Job Summary:
The orthopedic hand surgeon is a highly specialized role and will be responsible for diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating musculoskeletal conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm for Vivant Health managed care patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical assessment by evaluating patients, interpreting diagnostic imaging and developing customized surgical and non-operative treatment plans.
- Performs surgery to address trauma, sports injuries, nerve and tendon damage, arthritis, tumors and congenital anomalies.
- Provides pre-and post-operative care and collaborates with physical or occupational therapists to maximize patient recovery.
- Evaluates inpatient consults and handles upper-extremity trauma and emergency hand procedures.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
- Regular attendance.
- Travel as required.
Other Functions

- Maintain IPA, Health Plan compliance standards.
Supervisor Responsibility
This position may supervise clinical support staff.
Qualifications:
Competencies
- Seven (7 ) years of direct experience performing orthopedic hand surgeries.
- Experience gained through residency and fellowship requirements is acceptable.
- Superior skills in successfully complete orthopedic hand surgeries.
- Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.

Education and Licensure
- Graduated from and accredited medical school and successfully completed a 5-year orthopedic surgery residency program.
- Successful completion of a 1-year hand and upper extremity fellowship.
- Currently and active California medical license
- Board Eligible/Certified in orthopedic surgery with a subspecialty certificate in surgery of the hand.
Travel
The incumbent may travel in the Greater Sacramento Area to perform outpatient surgery at assigned outpatient surgery centers and/or hospitals.
Salary : $700,000 - $750,000
