We are seeking a Packaging & Materials Coordinator to join our plant Supply Chain Team In this position you will play a key logistical role for our manufacturing operations in the Crestline (Mansfield), OH plant. This position is responsible for coordinating packaging and direct materials for the facility's products by procuring and coordinating all packaging (paper, cardboard, racking, etc.) and various direct materials (raw glass, paint, silver, etc.) consumed as part of the production process. Responsibilities
- Packaging - Serves as primary contact for the packaging process. Addresses questions, concerns, and recommends changes on product packaging specifications and pack sheets; updates pack sheets with approved changes on the SharePoint document library for parts.
- Packaging - Creates all packaging material orders, releases and delivery schedules as well as establishes optimum inventory levels and monitors the status of all packaging materials (paper, cardboard, Styrofoam, boxes, belts, etc.); make appropriate adjustments to re-order points to meet established service and turnover goals. Maintains a spreadsheet of vendors and completes physical inventories to ensure accuracy.
- Materials - Reviews and assures accuracy of all direct material orders including plant raw glass, paint, silver and labels linked directly to the facility's products. Orders and releases delivery schedules, timing and carrier utilization and substituting raw glass material as needed; schedules plant cut down operations to minimize the scrapping of obsolete raw glass blocks. Establishes appropriate re-order points and re-order quantities. Creates and maintains a Receiving Dispatch of incoming trucks for packaging and direct materials.
- Materials - Reviews all inactive direct materials and recommends follow-up to the Supply Chain Manager for phasing out of materials and proper disposition of remaining sundry items.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities
- Basic mathematical skills relevant to ordering and inventorying activities.
- Good decision making, interpersonal, time management, communication and multi-tasking skills required.
- Computer and Microsoft Office - Excel and e-mail. Must work with computerized production reporting and ordering systems (SAP/Oracle/STARS, etc.)
- Ability to possess a thorough knowledge of the plant's manufacturing process and have the ability to interact with plant personnel, internal and external direct material suppliers and customers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a relevant degree is desirable i.e. Supply Chain Management.
- Manufacturing experience with automotive experience is a plus.
