Nurse Practitioner - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

Position Summary

The Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner who can provide medical care to a wide variety of patients in a medical office.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform initial patient pre-operative screenings, history and physical examinations
• Update patient records and check records for accuracy 
• Analyze lab values and diagnostic tests and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options 
• Interpret pathologies from surgery and minor procedures
• Address post-surgical issues that could arise such as hematoma or seroma evacuation, identify infections, chemosis and perfusion issues with facial plastic surgery patients; identify appropriate treatment including prescribing for each situation
• Determine effectiveness of treatment plans with documentation of patient care outcomes
• Provide ongoing patient education preoperatively and post operatively
• Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies
• Serve as the resource patients need for ongoing care information, counseling and provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions
• Obtain medical clearance as appropriate for complex medical health history patients
• Prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies
• Perform safe removal of sutures, drains, staples and dressings | bolsters  
• Assist with minor procedures 
• Prepare and participate in seminars and educational videos

Qualifications and Required Licensure and Certifications

• Master of Science Degree in an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• National Certification by an Approved Board
• DEA License
• New York State license
• BLS and ACLS certification
• 3 years’ nursing experience
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent follow-up and organizational skill
• Knowledge of and ability to apply medical principles, procedures and techniques
• Proficient in Electronic Health Records

Work Schedule:

Full-time, Salaried/Exempt, 40 hours weekly

Monday-Friday

*Rotating Saturday & On-Call Coverage
