A major New Jersey municipality is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Public Works to oversee infrastructure, sanitation, utilities, facilities, and capital improvement projects. Key Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of public works operations, including roads, sanitation, water and sewer systems, fleet, and facilities
- Oversee capital improvement planning and departmental budgeting
- Establish operational priorities and ensure efficient service delivery
- Manage staff, equipment, contractors, and regulatory compliance
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governing bodies
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- 10 years of relevant public works or infrastructure experience, including at least 4 years in a management role; or
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in management; or
- Master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in management
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading public works operations for a municipality or similarly complex organization
- Strong budgeting and capital planning experience
- CPWM, PE, or relevant NJDEP certifications are highly desirable
