About the Role
The Special Projects Director leads initiatives that strengthen efficiency, standardization, and performance across multiple Vista Care states or service portfolios. This role is responsible for evaluating and improving operational systems, labor utilization, and business processes through collaboration, analytics, and cross-functional project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Operational Support and Analytics
- Lead data analysis and performance review processes to identify opportunities for improvement in scheduling, labor control, and service delivery.
- Collaborate with Finance to evaluate rate models, contracts, and cost trends to strengthen financial sustainability.
- Oversee development and maintenance of multi-state dashboards and reports tracking KPIs across programs.
- Assess workflow and system gaps, recommending and implementing process improvements to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Partner with technology teams to implement and optimize tools that support operational visibility and accountability.
- Process Improvement & Project Management
- Lead or support cross-functional improvement projects such as service transitions, system implementations, or new market development.
- Coordinate acquisition due diligence and integration planning for new programs and markets.
- Ensure alignment of operational processes with corporate standards, state regulations, and Vista Care’s mission.
- Support enterprise initiatives focused on efficiency, compliance, and quality outcomes.
- Oversee rollout of new policies, procedures, and performance systems across assigned states or regions.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to Special Projects Managers and project leads.
- Serve as a key advisor to state and area leadership on process optimization and performance improvement strategies.
- Foster collaboration across Operations, HR, Finance, and IT to ensure unified and data-driven decision-making.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture consistent with Vista Care’s BEST CARE values.
- Deliver training and presentations to operational teams on systems use, process improvement, and performance management.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Vista Care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years to ten (10) years of experience in healthcare, human services, or IDD operations with demonstrated success leading multi-site teams and/or service lines.
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ director-level leadership experience with significant management experience in multisite operations including mentorship, management, and supervision of others required.
- Experience analyzing operational or financial data and translating findings into actionable improvements.
- Demonstrated success in managing or mentoring staff and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills with demonstrated success improving operational processes and leading implementation.
- Proven ability to manage projects from concept to completion with strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present data and recommendations clearly.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office, especially Excel or Sheets for data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with leaders at various levels.
- Working knowledge of state regulations and standards applicable to community-based or residential services preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to function well in a fast-paced environment, adapt to organizational changes, and be a positive agent for change within the organization.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a human services field or Business-related field required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to programs within assigned scope (up to 40% annually).
- Ability to pass all necessary state-required background checks.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Regular travel within Vista Care’s areas of operation; overnight travel may be required (approximately 50%).
- May work in residential, day service, and community-based settings.
- Ability to drive company or personal vehicles; must maintain required insurance coverage.
- Standard work schedule of 40–45 hours per week, with flexibility to meet project or operational deadlines.
- Hybrid work environment.
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
