GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESUnder direction of Fundamentals Founder, the purpose of the position is to administer the planning, organization and direction of academic curricula for special education programs in cooperation with instructional, management and executive staff. Incumbent performs highly complex, managerial and strategic work, and is responsible for administering and coordinating the development and implementation of the assigned educational institutions and respective level of education. Employees in this classification administer functions to maximize disabled student academic opportunities. Incumbent exercises critical judgment and considerable initiative in administering the direction of Instructional programming. Performs related work as directed. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job Functions The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. • Administers, directs and manages special education programming to promote and facilitate a successful learning environment, and the accomplishment of School Board schedules, goals and objectives; develops, evaluates and implements policies, procedures and curricular development. • Coordinates with appropriate academic personnel to define educational accommodations and testing results and academic success of established curricula to evaluate and enhance instruction of special education students. • Directs, supervises and evaluates Special Education Teachers and Behavioral Interventionists. • Conducts research, procedural and administrative evaluations to enhance academic structure; formulates and implements recommendations for improvements and/or modifications in special education cases. • Prepares reports for executive review relative to policy development and implementation.• Monitors teacher allocations, evaluates class loads, and submits recommendations for additional instructional personnel or reorganization of resources. • Maintains open communication with executive staff and various levels of instructional staff. • Prepares various reports and documentation for executive and governmental review. • Establish and maintain relationships with local school districts to negotiate and manage contracts for services provided. • Provides training for all instructional staff regarding responsibilities and accommodations for special education students. • Performs related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge/Skills/Abilities Skill in effectively administering programs for special education within the assigned institutions and respective level of education. Knowledge of business English and spelling. Skill in clearly communicating information both verbally and in writing. Skill in preparing documents and composing letters and memoranda. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisory staff, management, and the school districts we serve. Skill in working with considerable independence to carry out tasks to completion. Skill in performing duties with a professional and cooperative work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to climb, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, sit and stand for long periods of time; walk; lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines. Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications; ability to read, update and maintain various records and files. Considerable knowledge of recent developments, current literature, and informational resources in the field of Curriculum and Instructional programming. Expert knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing Special Education instructional programming policies, and procedures for the assigned institutions and respective level of education. Expert knowledge of basic school district work policies and guidelines; expert knowledge of departmental practices and procedures. Education/Certifications/Experience Master’s degree in Special Educational Administration or related field; supplemented by five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the curriculum and instructional programming of special education within a similar educational institution, and current knowledge of relative federal, state and local laws and regulatory practices governing such academic programming, to include three (3) to four (4) years of experience within a senior management position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Salary : $85,000 - $135,000
