The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with management in designated business units. Acting as both a talent champion and a change agent, the HRBP provides guidance on employee engagement, performance coaching, talent management, HR analytics, labor relations, and policy. This role proactively identifies HR-related needs and develops integrated solutions in partnership with business leaders and the HR function.
The HRBP builds effective relationships across the organization, serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees. The position requires strong business literacy, including knowledge of the unit’s financial position, midrange plans, culture, and competition. The HRBP also serves as the employee relations lead for their assigned location and coordinates labor relations in partnership with the VP of Labor & Employee Relations.

Compensation
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $80,000 to USD $135,000. Principal Responsibilities
- Conducts regular meetings and check-ins with key business unit leadership.
- Consults with line management, providing HR guidance and coaching as appropriate.
- Analyzes HR and business trends to develop solutions, programs, and policies; leads HR Business Reviews for assigned units.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and objective investigations.
- Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, partnering with the legal team as necessary.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Works to improve employee engagement, relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Supports labor relations activities including investigations, contract administration, grievances, arbitrations, negotiations, and special projects.
- Advises on organizational development initiatives such as restructures, job design, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Identifies training and executive coaching needs, collaborating with HR partners to develop solutions.
- Partners with HR functions (Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, Health & Wellness) to deliver value across the enterprise.
- Collaborates with fellow HRBPs to ensure a team-based, coordinated approach to supporting employees and business units.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of related professional experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of HR Business Partner or Labor Relations experience preferred.
- Strong consulting and leadership coaching skills.
- Broad knowledge of HR functions, policies, and best practices.
- Advanced communication skills with the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity at all levels of the organization.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with conflict resolution and demonstrated business acumen.
