Role Description The Caregiver role at Visiting Angels is a full-time, on-site position based in Elkhart, IN. Caregivers provide direct, non-medical assistance to clients in their homes, supporting daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Day-to-day tasks include preparing meals, assisting with feeding as needed, performing light housekeeping, managing laundry, and running local errands such as grocery shopping or pharmacy visits. Caregivers also offer companionship, engage clients in conversation and simple activities, monitor changes in condition, and promptly report concerns to supervisors or family members. The role requires following care plans, maintaining accurate documentation of services provided, respecting client privacy and preferences, and adhering to agency policies and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and safe mobility support).
- Experience with household support tasks, including light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and safe food handling.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, offer emotional support, and provide respectful companionship to clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliable time management and organizational skills, including punctuality, accurate documentation, and adherence to individualized care plans.
