Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Product Quality Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that products meet stringent quality standards through rigorous inspection, testing, and analysis. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The Product Quality Technician will ensure customer requirements are in conformance to design specifications on all parts being manufactured.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 3 to 4 years manufacturing environment experience with quality assurance experience preferred or a combination of an Associate’s degree and experience
- Experience in plastics injection molding and an understanding of most plastic resins desirable
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as quality specifications, blueprints, safety rules and procedure manuals
- Demonstrates good problem solving, communication, team and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact with production personnel and motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Basic understanding and application of computer skills
- Ability to use time management skills to balance multiple tasks and assure on-time completion
JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Understanding of customer product quality requirements
- Understanding of Vision Plastics ISO procedures and processes including: product trace-ability and inspection logs
- Ability to operate a variety of measurement tools and devices such as calipers, micrometers and other measuring equipment
- Understanding of SDS sheets
- Basic blueprint reading skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure completeness of necessary documentation including First Piece inspection, In-Process inspection, and Last Piece validation inspection, within expected or given time periods.
- Perform in-process inspection and documentation of product to determine compliance to customer specifications.
- Assist in the direction of ‘sort’ operations, as necessary.
- Immediately report all discrepancies to Production Supervisor, Shift Production Lead and/or QA Manager.
- Informally monitor quality system at work center(s) concerning labels, documentation, lot numbers, and First Piece samples for procedural adherence.
- Communicate quality issues/concerns with operators and supervision whenever necessary, including shift crossover.
- Assist with training new employees and coaching existing employees (inclusive of temporary workers) with quality assurance concepts and activities.
- Participate in team problem solving activities (i.e. 8D’s, CAR’s, communication meetings, etc.).
- Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Quality manual, employee handbook, etc.).
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas.
- Enable effective communications between management and production personnel.
- Ensure product is properly packaged per specific product packaging plans.
- Perform related duties as assigned, or as the situation dictates, by the immediate Supervisor.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
