What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist/Optical Assistant position at Vision Institute of Utah?
Are you looking for a job that can help you learn skills necessary for a career in healthcare administration, finance, accounting, medical coding, and clinical medicine? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at the Vision Institute of Utah.
Due to being a small medical business, you will encounter lessons about how business and medicine work in ways that many have to wait years of job progression to learn.
We have been providing optometry services for several decades. Our optometrist, Dr. Phillip Plothow, graduated from Southern California College of Optometry. He is a past President of the Utah Optometric Association. He has been in private practice since 1990.
Responsibilities:
- Ordering glasses and contact lenses, repairing and adjusting frames, performing auto-refractions and other optical measurements.
- Performing billing and accounting tasks regarding insurance payments and claims.
- Collaborating with the optometrist to ensure seamless patient care.
- Adhering to office policies and procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, and upholding a high level of professionalism.
- Answering phones and emails promptly and professionally, addressing patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and providing general information.
- Greeting and checking in patients, verifying personal and insurance information, and collecting necessary paperwork.
- Assisting patients with the check-out process, including scheduling follow-up appointments and processing payments.
Requirements:
- There is only one opening that we are hiring for right now. The available shifts are as follows: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8am or 9am to 1pm (12-15 hours). Most of our employees are students so the schedule changes each semester with class changes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and basic office software.
- Attention to detail in managing patient information, appointment scheduling, and ordering supplies.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
To summarize the job responsibilities, there are three main parts: regular reception work, optical assisting, and medical coding. You don't need to know how to do these things already before applying, we can show you when you start with us.
We won't be able to micromanage you, so if you are looking for a job where you can choose how you want to improve efficiency and productivity and show people what you are made of through smart work, this is the one!
We can't wait to meet you, and hope you feel our office is a place to develop skills that will be valuable to you in your career path. We also hope this will be a job with which you can feel comfortable and safe.
