Reports to: Assistant Site Director for Student Services, Site Director
Primary Location: Virtual Campus / Online
Qualifications: - Master’s Degree or higher with valid Georgia counselor certificate.
- High school counseling experience required.
- Must understand all Georgia high school graduation requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual instruction program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
- Experience with a virtual learning environment preferred.
- This position requires availability from 4:00pm – 9:00pm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate intake meetings with new students to explain transcripts and credits; assign students to new courses.
- Assist all students, individual or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans.
- Assist in monitoring academic performance, behavior and attendance & develop interventions.
- Be meticulous in accurate completion of all Foothills-required paperwork and procedural forms.
- Communicate with student services team regarding all student needs (individual sessions, group sessions, parent meetings, social worker needs, referrals to DFACS, suicide protocol.)
- Collaborate with parents/guardians/educators to assist students with educational and career planning.
- Counsel students about college and prepare them for the SAT, ACT or Accuplacer. Share information about test accommodations for students who have an IEP, 504, or TPC plan.
- Share information about financial aid and assist students with www.gafutures.org.
- Counsel students about dual enrollment and help them complete all required paperwork.
- Participate in IEPs, 504s, and TPC meetings as appropriate.
- Participate virtually in faculty and professional meetings, professional learning, and other training working through the site director and/or curriculum director and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning.
- Assist with publishing monthly counseling newsletter.
- Meet the performance and behavioral expectations of the Site Director.
- Comply with all FERPA requirements for the virtual environment.
- Maintain a "Hot List" of students nearing graduation and collaborate with other Student Services staff to provide intensive support through graduation.
- Create Senior Grad Review data in Infinite Campus to monitor progress toward graduation.
- Assist in the monitoring of dual enrolled students to identify and remove barriers and intervene with appropriate support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.
