Scheduled Shifts: Monday - Friday
Scheduled Hours: primarily 8:00am - 4:30pm with 30-minute lunch break

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

State of Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse

CPR certification

Previous urology specialty experience including cystoscopy and urethral dilation
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
- Knowledge of VWC's computer system software and its functionality as it pertains to patient care.
- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to urology specialty.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic records, preparing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skill in maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and memos.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, electronic, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to maintain strictest patient confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate with patient to ascertain needs (requires independent judgment for assessing patient needs for appropriate preparation for exam; suggesting solution to patient phoning with problems; providing guidance and information regarding medication provided by physician).
- Ability to obtain vital signs and administer medication.
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in recording information in patient charts, in labeling specimens, and in giving test results to patients.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to respond with flexibility to changing workload or patient assignments.
- Ability to perform effectively as a team member, supporting a patient-focused environment in all interactions with co-workers, patients, families, visitors, and volunteers.
