Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Aid Director to lead our institution’s financial assistance programs. Duties
- Manage the overall administration of financial aid programs, including federal Title IV funds, state grants, scholarships, and institutional aid.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing financial aid.
- Oversee the processing of student applications using systems such as PeopleSoft and Ellucian Banner, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to determine students’ eligibility for various aid programs while maintaining meticulous records.
- Lead loan processing activities, including disbursement, repayment plans, and borrower communications.
- Collaborate with education administration teams to align financial aid strategies with institutional goals.
- Provide training and support to staff involved in financial aid operations to enhance their skills in areas like accounting, loan processing, and data management.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to students, parents, faculty, and staff through workshops, individual advising sessions, or written materials.
- Monitor changes in legislation or policy that impact financial aid programs and adjust procedures accordingly.
- Prepare reports on program performance, funding allocations, and compliance status for senior leadership and accrediting agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, education administration or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience managing financial aid programs within higher education or similar educational institutions.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis techniques relevant to educational funding.
- Experience working with student information systems such as PeopleSoft or Ellucian Banner; familiarity with Ellucian systems is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of federal student aid regulations (e.g., FAFSA processing), loan management processes, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience supervising teams involved in financial services or education administration functions.
- Proficiency in math for analyzing budgets, funding allocations, and statistical reports related to financial aid programs.
