Labor Relations Specialist / Manager
Location: Idaho
Industry: Industrial Manufacturing (24/7 Operations)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Labor Relations Specialist / Manager to support a large, highly manual industrial manufacturing operation with an active labor union. This role is responsible for day-to-day labor relations activities with a strong emphasis on grievance processing, issue resolution, contract interpretation, and maintaining productive union–management relationships while minimizing escalation and operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full grievance process, including investigation, documentation, response preparation, and resolution
- Serve as the primary labor relations point of contact for supervisors and plant leadership in a 24/7 operating environment
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements consistently and fairly
- Resolve disputes at the lowest possible level through effective communication and problem-solving
- Advise supervisors and managers on labor relations practices, discipline, and contract compliance
- Participate in union meetings, labor-management discussions, and related negotiations as required
- Track trends, recurring issues, and risk areas; recommend proactive solutions
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and contractual obligations
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of direct labor relations experience in a unionized industrial or manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience managing grievances and resolving labor issues without unnecessary escalation
- Demonstrated success supporting operations in a 24/7, high-volume manufacturing setting
- Strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor law
- Proven ability to work effectively with union representatives, supervisors, and senior leadership
- Strong judgment, discretion, and conflict-resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial, or highly manual operations
- Prior involvement in contract negotiations or arbitration preparation
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
