Job Description
The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a full-time, open-rank Professor of Practice (non-tenure-track). The successful candidate will be expected to teach sports media and analytics courses, which could include Intro to Sports Media, Sports Journalism, Broadcasting Performance, Sports Play-by-Play Reporting, and Sportscenter, as well as courses relevant to the successful candidate’s area of expertise. The expected teaching load is three classes per semester.

- Master’s degree in journalism or related field or bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, or related field with substantial experience in sports media.
- Demonstration of extensive professional sports media industry expertise.
- Doctorate in journalism or related field
- Full-time experience in sports media
- Sports broadcasting experience
- Sports production experience
- College-level teaching experience
- Familiarity with multimedia equipment and editing software (mirrorless/DSLR cameras, ENG cameras, control room equipment, sideline reporting equipment, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
