Position Summary
This position is responsible for scheduling and overseeing the movement of live birds between brood farms and finisher farms. Also the scheduling and overseeing the aMPV Vaccination program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates with other scheduling coordinators to determine poult movement and vaccination scheduling. Creates and distributes the weekly moving and vaccination schedule, allowing for back up flexibility and decision making for weather conditions and bird health.
- Communicate with growers on schedules. Coordinate with drivers to schedule trucks.
- Ensure that Poult Moving crew is handling birds according to Animal Welfare training guidelines. Ensure that crew is following proper Biosecurity measures at all times and that equipment is being cleaned properly for those purposes as well.
- Oversee catching staff to ensure safety practices and efficient loading and unloading processes.
- Produce and distribute weekly reports confirming movements and maintaining those records for history tracking.
- Maintain aMPV vaccination records as required by the USDA-CVB
- Maintain a written procedure code of practice for poult moving
- With assistance from the Veterinarian maintain a written procedure for proper vaccination of aMPV
- Monitor the quality of vaccination procedure
- Monitor bird welfare through auditing the catching process and recording DOAs.
- Monitor the inventory of vaccine and coordinated the orders with suppliers
- Assist Poult Crew supervisor in scheduling additional work for crew if necessary.
- Regularly review procedures to identify potential improvements.
- Ensure that cold weather protocol is followed when moving birds in inclement weather. This may include altering movement schedule and ensuring trailers are tarped or boarded.
- Must be willing to attend training courses as needed.
- Adjust the schedule to early mornings or nights based on weather conditions
Education, Training, Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid driver’s license and maintain record compliant with VPGC, Inc Fleet Safety Policy
Experience
Three to seven years related experience
