What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Assistant position at Virginia Peninsula Foodbank?
Join our team and help fight hunger in our community! We’re looking for a Warehouse Assistant to support our dry goods, chill, and freezer operations. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, with responsibilities that keep our food moving safely and efficiently to those who need it most.
What You’ll Do
- Load, unload, and receive food donations and deliveries
- Pick and stage food orders for our hunger-relief programs
- Safely operate warehouse equipment (training provided)
- Keep warehouse, chill, freezer, and grounds clean and safe
- Support and supervise volunteers during warehouse activities
- Occasionally back up our truck drivers when needed
What We’re Looking For
- At least 6 months of warehouse or distribution experience (2 years preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
- Ability to get forklift and food handler certifications (training provided)
- Comfortable working in dry, chilled, and freezer environments
- Team player with strong attention to detail and time management skills
