Experienced Small Engine Mechanic / Outdoor Power Equipment Technician
Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Small Engine Mechanic / Outdoor Power Equipment Technician to join our service team.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced technician with 3–5 years of hands-on small engine repair experience, including significant experience diagnosing and repairing commercial outdoor power equipment and zero-turn mowers.
We are a busy, established outdoor power equipment dealership offering year-round, full-time work, competitive pay, benefits, and overtime opportunities.
What You'll Work On
Our shop services everything from handheld equipment to commercial zero-turn mowers, including:
- Commercial zero-turn mowers
- Riding mowers
- Walk-behind and push mowers
- Chainsaws
- Trimmers and brush cutters
- Blowers
- Generators
- Tillers
- Other 2-cycle and 4-cycle outdoor power equipment
We are an authorized dealer for STIHL, ECHO, SCAG, Toro, Honda, Hustler, and Ariens, giving our technicians the opportunity to work on some of the leading brands in the industry.
What We're Looking For
Applicants must have:
- 3–5 years of professional small engine repair experience
- Commercial outdoor power equipment experience
- Zero-turn mower experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
- Ability to diagnose electrical, fuel, mechanical, and hydraulic issues
- Basic computer skills – required
- Ability to navigate computer-based work orders, parts information, service manuals, manufacturer websites, and diagnostic information
- Own mechanic tools – required
- Ability to work independently and complete repairs efficiently
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable attendance and a solid work ethic
We are looking for a technician who can diagnose problems—not simply replace parts. You should be comfortable taking a repair from initial diagnosis through completion and be able to accurately document the work performed.
Schedule
Full-Time | Year-Round Position
Monday–Friday
7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Overtime opportunities are available.
This is a year-round position—not seasonal employment. We are looking for someone interested in becoming a long-term member of our service department.
