Visitor Services Associates provide excellent customer service to support a welcoming, inclusive environment for visitors and staff. This is a front-line position with a priority on communicating with our visitors, selling tickets and memberships, and providing exceptional service. This is a part time, non-exempt position with no benefits, working 20-28 hours per week. Evening and weekend availability is required.
Duties include:
- Selling tickets to exhibitions and museum programs.
- Processing new memberships and renewals; taking donations.
- Assisting visitors with questions, gathering visitor feedback, and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or over the phone.
- Taking tickets and selling audio guides for exhibitions.
Minimum Qualifications
Prior experience working in a public-facing role in a customer service, hospitality, or retail setting. Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems is required.
Outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills, and the ability to work confidently and courteously with museum staff and the general public.
Must be able to handle a wide range of customer service issues and solve problems independently.
Ability to work effectively in both fast-paced and slow-paced environments.
Ability to communicate with the public in person and over the telephone; to use a computer with mouse and keyboard; to sit or stand for the majority of their shift, with reasonable accommodations.
