Night Shift ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Virginia Lung is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pulmonary & Critical Care team as a night provider in a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Newport News, Virginia.

Position Details
- Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Employment: Full-Time or Part-Time
- Location: Newport News, Virginia
- Practice Setting: 10-bed Intensive Care Unit

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage critically ill adult ICU patients
- Perform admissions, daily patient management, and overnight cross-coverage
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the attending intensivist
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergent clinical situations
- Perform central venous catheter placement and arterial line insertion as part of routine ICU care
- Endotracheal intubation is optional based on experience, credentialing, and comfort level
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, consultants, patients, and families
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care NP preferred) or Physician Assistant
- Virginia license or eligibility for licensure
- ICU, Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, or Emergency Medicine experience preferred
- Experience placing central lines and arterial lines is strongly preferred
- New graduates are encouraged to apply
- ACLS certification required
