Part-Time Investment Intern (Non-Exempt)

Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a motivated Investment Intern to support the investment function across market monitoring, credit research, and investment operations. This role provides direct exposure to institutional fixed income investing and offers hands-on experience evaluating companies, analyzing financial data, and supporting portfolio-related decisions, including conducting market research and credit analysis using the Bloomberg Terminal.
The intern will work closely with the investment team to assist in research, reporting, and day-to-day investment processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Research & Financial Analysis
- Assist in reviewing company financials including revenue trends, debt levels, and cash flow
- Support analysis of key credit metrics such as leverage and interest coverage
- Identify and summarize changes in financial performance over time
- Assist in preparing internal credit review summaries and supporting materials
- Assist in tracking and monitoring existing portfolio holdings for changes in credit quality
- Monitor daily market activity including interest rates, credit markets, and economic developments
- Summarize relevant news and trends impacting financial markets
- Assist in gathering data for investment-related discussions
- Assist with tracking investment activity and maintaining organized records
- Help maintain documentation related to investment analysis and reporting
- Support ad hoc projects including research, data organization, and process improvement
- Pursuing a degree in Finance (Junior or Senior only)
- Strong interest in financial markets and investing
- Basic understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Basic proficiency in Excel
- Ability to interpret and summarize financial information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Flexible, remote work environment
