Job Duties
Applies appropriate cleaning techniques, procedures and the use of products/equipment to a broad range of surfaces. Duties include sweeping, dust mopping, damp/wet mopping, dusting, polishing, scrubbing (manually or mechanically), vacuuming, window washing and waste/trash removal, replenishment of supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soaps, disinfecting surfaces after nursing removes bulk of bodily fluids and excrements.
Keeps housekeeping storage and housekeeping cart clean and organized. Cart is locked when not in use. Equipment utilized is cleaned after each use, and properly stored. Equipment malfunctions and repair needs are brought to Supervisors’ attention.
Performs all functions of job by adhering to department and facility policies and procedures.
Maintains records/reports/data associated with detail cleaning, discharge/terminal cleaning, periodic cleaning requirements and training check off sheet.
Provides initial on-the-job training (OJT) to newly hired Environmental Services staff. Trains in all cleaning techniques, procedures and processes through “show and tell” designed to give hands on experience. Mentors new staff as needed by answering questions and providing timely feedback to allow for a smooth transition to independence. The Senior Housekeeping Worker will work closely with the dayshift supervisor(s) in monitoring progress of trainee, providing advice regarding length of training.
Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within Environmental Services’ mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge in the use of a variety of supplies and equipment used in routine cleaning of offices, resident rooms, public spaces and utility areas.
Additional Considerations
High School Diploma desired. Experience in training new staff a plus.
