Position Responsibilities
- Monitor Accreditation Standards:
- Track all aspects of the VLEPSC accreditation process, including revisions or amendments to standards, and assess the impact on departmental operations, policies, and procedures.
- Policy and Procedure Management:
- Notify staff of required updates to Departmental General Orders and assist in drafting, reviewing, and maintaining compliant documentation.
- Prepare, present, and file supporting materials for all policy and procedural changes.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Collect, organize, and maintain proofs of compliance to satisfy accreditation standards.
- Coordinate the review of departmental records and ensure acknowledgment receipts are properly maintained.
- Assessment Coordination:
- Schedule and coordinate pre-compliance, mock, and on-site assessments with VLEPSC assessors, ensuring timely preparation of required documentation and logistics.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and follow-up actions to verify compliance and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Research and Training Support:
- Conduct legal and procedural research through the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and other relevant agencies to support accreditation requirements.
- Assist with the development and delivery of training related to accreditation processes and standards.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare and distribute the Department’s General Orders to all employees.
- Complete and submit all required reports accurately, clearly, and within established deadlines.
- Attend VLEPSC meetings as required.
- Administrative and Technical Support:
- Utilize computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerDMS to complete reports, track compliance, and maintain records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff or the Chief of Police.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of law enforcement accreditation standards and processes (preferably VLEPSC).
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply policy and procedural requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Associate degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in policy compliance, records management, or administrative support within a law enforcement or public safety environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and records management software.
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement administration, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience with VLEPSC or other law enforcement accreditation programs.
- Experience using PowerDMS or similar accreditation management software.
