The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
Position Responsibilities
- Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Teaching Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in movement disorders. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
- Research The Division of Neuro-Ophthalmology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.
- Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
- MD/DO or MD/PhD degree (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of a neurology residency at an accredited institution
- Successful completion of Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship
- Eligibility for licensure in Virginia and board certification or eligible in Neurology (ABPN)
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
