The Preschool Director position is critical to the success of our school. They create a safe, engaging
learning environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of every teacher and student. They
establish effective rapport with students and inspire them to develop faith, knowledge, skills, and
attitudes, which will prepare them for their future educational endeavors. They challenge every student to
excel at the highest level and establish great relationships with parents, which fosters trust and makes for
a successful home and school partnership.
This position reports directly to the Head of School.

Education Required
4 Year Degree in Education or Education Field of Study
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or Education field of study
Experience Required
Experience as a lead administrator, preschool director or co-director
Demonstrated ability to lead other leaders.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment (hiring,
procedure management, etc.).
Experience Desired
Preschool teaching experience
Experience as a preschool/school administrator
Experience in church-run preschool/school administration
Proficiency in G-suite applications

Key Responsibilities
Professional Growth and Learning
- Attending Staff Chapel.
- Attend orientation and all faculty meetings.
- Attending conferences, professional development opportunities, classes
- Set and meet yearly goals demonstrating personal and professional growth; achieving the required
- total of yearly continuing education credits.
- Undergo yearly professional evaluations, setting goals, and receiving feedback/correction as
- needed.
- Engage in a professional learning community.
- Provide educational leadership and administrative support consistent with the school’s mission, values, philosophy of education, and yearly achievement goals.
- Provide a leadership presence daily.
- Assign teacher duties and responsibilities.
- Determine staffing vacancies and in the hiring of new teachers.
- Ensure all safety, security, and crisis management processes and procedures are understood and being followed at all events.
- Create a Lower School master schedule for enrichment classes.
- Collaborate with the Lower School leadership team and to ensure divisional alignment, communication, and synergy.
- Set and uphold policies and procedures for adequate and age-appropriate management of student behavior management and discipline issues.
- Collaborate with the school leadership team to ensure organizational alignment, communication, and synergy.
- Submit budget requests for Preschool programming needs on a yearly basis – Curriculum, staffing, furniture, appreciation, events and activities, etc.
- Manage division spending according to the set program budget allowance.
- Ensure proper coding and accurate reporting of all divisional spending.
- Establish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers and assistants, and for the evaluation classroom teachers, to ensure that they are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.
- Meet with the school leadership team to problem solve, receive and give feedback, and further advance the school’s mission and efficacy; keeping the Head of Lower School informed on all pertinent issues ensuring that he/she is never surprised.
- Identify areas of improvement and initiate strategies for the continued growth and success of the preschool for acquisition of state licensure and possible future accreditation.
- Assist in preparing and updating the staff and student handbooks, which outlines school policies and procedures.
- Act as the leader of preschool student life and co-curricular activities including program development, staffing, scheduling, and communication consistent with the school’s mission, values, philosophy of education, and yearly achievement goals.
- Work with the school leadership team and teachers to schedule preschool student life activities/events – Bingo nights, fall fest, SCA-led activities/events, Boosterthon, Church’s bday, rock the block, book fairs, spirit weeks, etc.
- Understand and uphold, with complete clarity, Community Church’s mission, vision, and values.
- Set an example for the staff professionally and spiritually.
- Listen to feedback from a variety of sources for school improvement and effectiveness.
- Evaluate teacher performance and work with the Head of Lower School to help marginal teachers to improve.
- Convene department-head meetings as well as other staff committees.
- Oversee curriculum delivery in consultation with lead teacher.
- Prepare mentoring programs between veteran teachers and new hires.
- Arrange professional development opportunities for the teaching staff and approve teachers' requests to attend conferences.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure smooth program operation.
- Act as the preschool’s chief articulator of curricular and co-curricular activities with families and faculty.
- Schedule and conduct regular meetings with lead teachers, advisors, etc. and volunteers to ensure smooth program operation.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication among and between faculty and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in the admissions process by responding to inquiries, giving tours, etc.
