Flooring Store Associate (Sales and Daily Operations)

Location: Belleville, IL (in person)
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay: $15.00 per hour, plus 2% commission on closed sales
The job in short
Our Belleville flooring store needs a self starter who can sell and keep the place running. You'll be the main point of contact for customers and the person who makes sure orders, inventory, and the showroom are always in order.
This is a good fit if you're organized, enjoy talking to people, and like being trusted to handle things on your own.
Sales duties
- Help customers who visit the store choose flooring and understand pricing
- Recommend products based on each customer's project and budget
- Reach out to leads and follow up until the sale is closed
- Build relationships that bring customers back
- Write up estimates and invoices
- Pitch in on promotions and social media posts when asked
Operations duties
- Unlock and set up the store each morning, then lock up at closing
- Take calls and reply to emails and customer questions
- Process orders and keep customers updated
- Schedule and coordinate with suppliers and installers
- Check stock levels, organize inventory, and refill sample displays
- Keep the sales floor, office, and displays tidy
- Maintain customer records, paperwork, and data entry
Requirements
- Clear, confident communication and good customer service
- Dependable and detail focused
- Able to manage multiple tasks without close supervision
- Comfortable with computers, POS systems, and standard office software
- Physically able to lift and carry flooring samples and boxes
- Willing to take initiative and keep a positive attitude
Nice to have
- Previous sales experience
- Background in flooring, construction, home improvement, or retail
Pay and growth
- $15.00 hourly rate
- 2% commission on every closed sale
