What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Electronics Technician position at Vintage Air Inc?
Build what doesn’t exist yet. Test what others can’t. Solve what others miss.
We’re looking for a hands-on R&D Electronics Technician who thrives in a prototype environment - someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and refining electronic systems from concept through production.
This is not a repetitive production role. You’ll work directly with engineering to bring new products to life, solve real technical problems, and influence how designs move into manufacturing.

- Modify and iterate on designs as products evolve (often in real time)
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues at the component, circuit, and system level
- Build and maintain test boxes, fixtures, and wiring assemblies
- Run functional and reliability testing on prototypes and existing products
- Provide critical feedback to engineering on manufacturability and design improvements
- Inspect vendor and internal builds to ensure quality and compliance
- Document testing, results, and design changes with precision
- Collaborate closely with engineers to solve complex technical challenges
You’re someone who:
- Enjoys figuring things out—not just following instructions
- Can read schematics and translate them into real, working builds
- Has strong troubleshooting instincts and doesn’t stop at surface-level fixes
- Takes pride in clean builds, accurate work, and reliable results
- Can manage multiple priorities without constant direction
- High school diploma (technical experience matters more than degrees here)
- Hands-on experience with:

- Electronic components, circuit boards, and schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills

- Automotive or vehicle electrical systems
You’ll regularly work with:
- Oscilloscopes, DMMs, and other electronic test equipment
- Prototype builds and custom test setups
- A warehouse/manufacturing environment (not a desk-only role)
- Prototypes are built accurately and efficiently
- Issues are identified early—and solved correctly
- Engineering trusts your feedback on design improvements
- Documentation is clean, complete, and usable
- You operate with minimal oversight and high accountability
