Join one of Utah's fastest-growing communities and play a key role in protecting water quality and ensuring regulatory compliance. The City of Vineyard is seeking a dedicated Stormwater Inspector III / MS4 Coordinator to lead and support the City's stormwater management program.
This position is critical to maintaining compliance with the Utah Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (UPDES) MS4 permit and supporting responsible growth through effective stormwater oversight. As part of the Public Works and Engineering team, you will help manage stormwater systems, enforce environmental regulations, and support infrastructure development that protects the community and natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with UPDES MS4 permit requirements and applicable regulations
- Conduct stormwater inspections for construction sites, municipal facilities, and illicit discharge investigations
- Develop, maintain, and update the Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP)
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including annual MS4 reports
- Review Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and construction documents
- Manage and support the Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program
- Coordinate with contractors, developers, consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Maintain stormwater system mapping and data using GIS tools
- Support public education, outreach, and internal coordination efforts
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) years of related experience in public works construction, inspection, stormwater management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Utah Driver's License
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Stormwater-related certifications (CESCP, CSM, or equivalent)
- Registered Stormwater Inspector/Writer (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with MS4 programs, SWMP development, and IDDE programs
- Experience with GIS, data tracking systems, and technical reporting
