What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editor position at VinePair?
VinePair is looking for a motivated Editor to join our editorial team. We’re interested in someone who is excited about working in a fast-paced environment, resourceful, and passionate about our brand. If this is you — plus you love the world of drinks — and you have digital media editing experience, we should talk.
This position would primarily be responsible for editing a large volume of content across categories, as well as supporting our editorial team with other projects, including but not limited to: writing, researching, and reporting; SEO; wine, beer, and spirits tastings.
We are looking for a candidate who’s a hard worker with a great attitude and sharp editing skills. The ideal person is passionate about VinePair’s mission, “Drinking is Culture,” and will contribute their creativity to continue to grow this dynamic publication.
Job Requirements Include
- Assign and edit content (~3 news articles/day; ~15 supporting articles/week; 4 features/month)
- Regularly generate ideas and contribute to editorial projects and programming
- Track the competitive landscape, trends, and happenings across the drinks industry
- Help build a network of talented freelance writers across wine, beer, and spirits
- Help strategize ways for the editorial team to achieve its growth goals
- Write articles, including long- and short-form, as needed
- Support all other editorial projects (ex: tentpole packages; drinks tastings and reviewing; podcasting; events)
Qualifications
- 3-4 years editing experience, preferably in the wine, beer, or spirits space
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Flawless grammar and spelling
- Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines
- Passion for journalism, not just book-report writing
- Knowledge of Wordpress a plus
Additional requirements
- Must be able to work 4 days a week in our NYC offices
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must love dogs (our offices are dog friendly!)

Salary range: $65,000-70,000, commensurate with experience
