Role Summary
The Learning Coach is a part-time position integrated into the Early College program at Area 31 (located at Ben Davis High School). The coach provides one-on-one or small group academic support to Early College students who are struggling with course material, working closely with faculty and partners to monitor and improve student academic progress.

Responsibilities
- Student Academic Support:
o Providing academic tutoring or other resources for students in need.
o Customize and craft effective plans that address student weaknesses and strengths.
o Assist, evaluate, develop, and integrate the students in learning.
o Motivate students and provide them with the confidence to be successful.
o Develop study skills specifically tailored to each student.
o Teach referred students how to learn by providing students with study skills and study habits.
o Evaluate student progress to document improvements or identify additional deficiencies.
- Collaboration & Communication:
o Foster meaningful relationships with students and faculty.
o Provide ongoing communication with teachers, parents, students, and counselors regarding the academic progress of individual students who are referred to them by counselors/teachers to receive assistance and academic support.
o Demonstrate excellent writing, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
o Support the vision of the BDU and Vincennes University Early College.
- Administrative Duties:
o Approximately 25% of the role is administrative/clerical.
o Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications
Essential
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Education: An earned Baccalaureate degree required.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal, and planning skills.
o Knowledge of general office management systems and procedures.
o Ability to operate general office equipment.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, or similar software.
o Ability to learn and operate Learning Management Systems of various partners and VU.
o Ability to maintain confidential information.
o Ability to work with partner sites, students, and families with various backgrounds.
o Ability to quickly pivot from one project to the next as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Normal physical demands for successful work in a normal office environment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to utilize hands for general office work including typing, filing, answering telephones, and writing.
