What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney position at Villamar Law Group PLLC?
Busy Queens and Long Island workers’ compensation firm is seeking a newly admitted attorney who is eager to be trained. This position is in person. Spanish speaking a PLUS but not required.
Responsibilites:
- Take depositions of claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
- Perform legal research and stay current with developments in workers’ compensation law
- Draft appeals, rebuttals, summations, and memoranda of law
- Litigate cases before Workers’ Compensation Judges
- Prepare clients for hearings, depositions, and trials
- Represent claimants at hearings, trials, and depositions
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of claimants
- Provide strategic legal direction on all assigned matters
- Work with support staff to ensure cases are progressing efficiently
- Assist injured workers in obtaining appropriate medical care and benefits
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and research abilities
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research platforms (Lexis, Westlaw)
Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
