About the Role:
The Food Production Director oversees all food production, sanitation, quality assurance, and operational functions. This role ensures full compliance with USDA, FDA, FSIS, SQF, HACCP, SSOP, and GMP standards while driving operational excellence, cost control, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead daily food production operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and on-time output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Maintain strict compliance with GMPs, USDA/FSIS, FDA, SQF, and all food safety programs
- Drive performance by monitoring productivity, reducing waste, improving yields, and optimizing labor costs
- Oversee and develop team members through scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management
- Manage SAP production activities including manufacturing orders, inventory reconciliation, and system training
- Own documentation and reporting across production, quality, sanitation, and maintenance
- Lead new product commercialization from scale-up through first production runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Partner cross-functionally with FSQA, R&D, Maintenance, and Procurement to solve problems and improve processes
- Support audits and act as a key liaison for regulatory agencies and food safety standards
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and clear communication across shifts
What We’re Looking For:
- 10 years of experience in food manufacturing or production operations
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (GMPs, USDA, FDA, HACCP, SQF)
- Hands-on leadership experience managing teams in a high-volume environment
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems in a production setting
- Proven ability to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve operational performance
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule
