The Youth Soccer Referee is a part-time position that reports directly to the Site Supervisor at the field and the Program Supervisor, off the field. The referee is responsible for the enforcement of the soccer rules as they apply to the Youth Recreational Soccer League and the safety of all participants. Soccer referees for Villa Park Youth Recreational Soccer League will teach players the rules of soccer while enforcing them.
Working Hours
Saturday Mornings from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Examples Of Duties
- Referees must attend in-house training prior to the start of the season. Attendance must be pre-arranged with the Program Supervisor.
- Learns and implements the Mid Suburban Soccer League (MSSL) rules as they apply to the Villa Park Youth Soccer League.
- Sets up flags and goals before games and correctly stores them at the conclusion of games.
- Conducts field inspection prior to scheduled games.
- Inspects player equipment as outlined in the MSSL rules.
- Conducts first aid procedures as necessary.
- Records and communicates any administered first aid, difficult situations and incidents or inappropriate behavior of players, coaches, and spectators to the Program Supervisor and field supervisor.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 14 years old (14 & 15-year-olds must have a work permit).
- Requires ability to work on Saturdays.
- Work is subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Requires occasional lifting of light/medium objects weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
- Knowledge/rules of the game of soccer.
- Ability to convey sports rules to participants.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and leadership.
- Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns as needed.
- Ability to teach the game of soccer to participants while enforcing the rules.
- $15-20 / per hour
