The Village of Rantoul is now accepting applications for a full-time Police Service Representative.
Under the general supervision, the Police Services Representative performs support services for Police, Fire and Ambulance services; maintains a variety of police files, records and forms.
REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of all radio and phone equipment housed within the Police Department
- Experience with computer terminal operation and applications
- Working knowledge of selected police and fire policies, procedures, and terminology
- Knowledge of police record systems
- Experience in Law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS)
- Excellent customer service and decision making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Be adebt at interacting with people of various social, cultural, economic, and education backgrounds, embracing diversity and inclusion
- Profcient with Microsoft Office Software
- Demostrate excellent planning and organizational skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Receives and makes phone calls, assists other law enforcement and governmental agencies or departments; makes referrals on Department matters
- Transfers calls for service to METCAD dispatch as appropriate
- Reviews all documents completed by sworn officers and submitted for data entry for accuracy and completeness
- Provides feedback and correction on any data field errors on any document submitted for data entry
- Maintain a daily incident summary report for Patrol briefing and Administration
- Performs data entry into several computer databases and files
- Codes and enters all the data from reports, traffic and warning citations, FI cards, barrments, Village complaints, Juvenile Station adjustments, into Tyler database
- Access New World records program to obtain booking data for arrests
- Enters items pawned at local pawn shop into national database
- Monitors Police Radio frequency and responds to Police Officer requests for information and assistance according to established procedures
- Monitors and communicates with Patrol officers utilizing the MDC (mobile data computer)
- Monitors emergency weather radio and computer
- Assists ESDA director during servere weather events
- Assists officers in filling out forms, including Involuntary Hospital Admissions, Village Complaints and Notice to Appears
- Prepares reports, criminal histories, citations and other documents for court filing or administrative hearings
- Serves as notary for charging documents sent to Court and for other Department purposes
- Updates village warrant list for distribution to Officers and inputs into Tyler database
- Receipt payments for fines and fees; including ordinance fines, vehicle seizure fees, finger printing, and solicitor fees
- Assists other department members in processing of solicitor licenses
- Operates the LEADS computer for Hot File entry/maintenance, and inquiries
- Maintains full access certification; requires passing a re-certification test every 2 years with security awareness training
- Records duties
- Fulfill FOIA requests
- Perform name based background checks
- Prepare Village Complaints paperwork
- Notifications to other village departments concerning public works emergencies, repairs, and outages
- Assist street department identifying vehicle owners in violation of snow routes
- Monitor security cameras inside and outside the building
- Operate Live Scan fingerprinting equipment as assigned
- Archives records and maintain media releases
- Assist officers with arrestee
- Coordinates Police, Fire, and Village participation with neighborhoods involved in annual Community NIght Out events
- Assist with the management of the command post during large-scale special events and emergencies
- Backup to the Excecutive Administrator
- Assit the PSR as needed
