Responsibilities
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws by patrolling assigned areas to deter and respond to incidents of crime or disorder.
- Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and documenting findings accurately through detailed report writing.
- Respond swiftly to emergency calls, providing first aid or CPR when necessary to stabilize individuals in distress.
- Utilize surveillance techniques and technology to monitor activity and identify suspicious behavior or criminal activity.
- Manage traffic laws enforcement by directing traffic, issuing citations for violations, and investigating accidents.
- Apply knowledge of procedural law, search and seizure law, evidence law, and criminal procedure during investigations while respecting legal rights.
- Handle animal-related incidents responsibly by managing animal control issues or animal care when required.
- Demonstrate leadership in conflict management situations, maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure while ensuring community safety.
- Must possess an Ohio Basic Peace Officer Certification. Armed Security Course does not fulfil this requirement.
Skills
- Strong understanding of law enforcement protocols including traffic laws, criminal law experience, evidence law, search and seizure law, and procedural law knowledge.
- Proficiency in report writing with attention to detail for documentation of incidents and investigations.
- Ability to perform first aid procedures including CPR and first aid protocols confidently in emergency situations.
- Experience with surveillance techniques and criminal investigation methods to support ongoing cases.
- Excellent driving skills with a valid license; ability to operate police vehicles safely at high speeds if necessary.
- Knowledge of conflict management strategies to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
- Familiarity with immigration law, loss prevention tactics, security procedures, animal handling skills, and basic animal care when applicable.
