Job Summary
The Groundskeeper Lead provides hands-on leadership and daily oversight of campus landscaping and grounds maintenance operations. This position supervises the Grounds staff while actively performing landscaping duties to ensure that all green spaces, planter areas, irrigation systems, and exterior campus environments are safe, well-maintained, and visually appealing. The Groundskeeper Lead supports the mission of Village Christian School by maintaining a clean, orderly, and welcoming campus environment while modeling professionalism, teamwork, and Christian character.
Requirements / Qualifications
Formal education is not required; however, prior experience in landscaping, irrigation systems, and grounds maintenance is strongly preferred. Lead or supervisory experience is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in operating landscaping equipment, including mower, edger, trimmer, and blower. A valid California Class C Driver’s License is required for operation of campus vehicles. Applicants must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing duties requiring bending, climbing ladders, prolonged standing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. A commitment to Christian character and safe work practices is required.
Applicants must submit a completed employment application and resume reflecting relevant groundskeeping and leadership experience. Upon hire, employees must provide documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States (I-9), complete required background checks and Live Scan fingerprinting, and provide proof of licensure (Driver’s License). Additional documentation such as TB clearance and a signed faith statement may be required in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
