Job Summary
The Secondary Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementing lesson plans and maintaining instructional continuity in the absence of the regular Middle School or High School teacher. This position provides classroom instruction, manages student behavior, and ensures a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered learning environment aligned with the philosophy and mission of Village Christian School. The substitute teacher supports students academically while maintaining professionalism and instructional consistency throughout the school day.
Requirements / Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (four-year degree) is required. Prior experience working with middle school and/or high school students is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate effective classroom management skills, the ability to follow written lesson plans, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to modeling Christian character. A teaching credential is preferred but not required unless otherwise specified by assignment.
Applicants must submit a completed employment application and resume reflecting educational background and relevant experience. Upon hire, employees must provide documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States (I-9), complete required background checks and Live Scan fingerprinting, and provide proof of degree. Additional documentation such as TB clearance and a signed faith statement may be required in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
