PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the supervision of required activities and personnel in the receiving, casting shed, stockperson, and material handling functions within the Machine Shop. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assign, direct, and observe the daily work and activities of personnel involved with receiving, material handling, stockroom, and casting shed per fulfillment needs. Assure that the established policies, rules and regulations, procedures and the Collective Bargaining Agreement are followed. Minimize disruptions to flow within operations; create standard work for what to do when flow is disrupted, resolve or escalate to get timely resolution as needed. Monitor and track daily performance metrics on value stream board, including safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production. Ensure an adequate supply of perishable items are available to maintain manufacturing schedules. Responsible for sustainment of overall continuous improvement strategy for material storage optimization, PFEP, and material flow. Effectively produce written documents such as production reports or procedures/ work instructions when necessary Assist in the oversight and management of material handling (tugger) route. Sustainment of Kanban system. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 2 years in a supervisory or manufacturing technical support role (e.g. Value Stream Manager, Manufacturing Services), OR Associate’s Degree in a technical/related field with 5 years related manufacturing supervisory or lead role, OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years in a manufacturing supervisory or leadership role. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Experience in Process Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen. Ability to collect, analyze, and make decisions using business metrics and data. Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. Must be customer focused and know about internal and external customer relationships. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and have ability to influence without direct authority. Self-motivated, with good organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks. Must work well in a team environment, experience working within a union environment a plus. Must have good written and oral communication skills.
