Position Summary

The Field Supervisor is responsible for leading crews in the successful execution of wireless telecommunications projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism. This individual serves as the company's field leader, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, customers are well represented, and employees are coached and developed.

The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, extensive tower experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to mentoring others while creating a positive team culture.

Primary Responsibilities

The Field Supervisor is expected to:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop tower technicians while promoting a positive team environment.
  • Plan daily work activities and ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.
  • Conduct daily job briefings and safety meetings.
  • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout each project.
  • Maintain clear communication with Project Managers, Construction Managers, customers, and company leadership.
  • Complete all required project documentation, daily reports, photographs, and closeout paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Identify project challenges and develop solutions while maintaining production goals.
  • Train and coach employees on proper climbing techniques, rigging practices, installation procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and accountability.

Technical Responsibilities

Supervise and perform wireless telecommunications construction and maintenance including:

  • Tower erection and modifications
  • Guyed Wire Swaps
  • Tower decommissioning
  • Line and antenna installation
  • Microwave installation
  • Structural reinforcement
  • Equipment upgrades
  • Fiber installation and testing
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Mount installation
  • Coax and hybrid cable installation
  • Grounding and bonding
  • Carrier integration support

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of wireless telecommunications experience.
  • Previous experience leading tower crews.
  • Strong understanding of carrier standards and industry best practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, RFDS packages, and project specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Certifications

  • Competent Climber Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Competent Rigger
  • Aerial Lift Certification
  • CPR / First Aid / Bloodborne Pathogens
  • RF Awareness
  • NWSA Telecommunications Tower Technician Certification (preferred)

Experience operating and utilizing:

  • Anritsu
  • Kaelus PIM Equipment
  • Fiber testing equipment
  • Voltmeters and electrical testing equipment
  • Lighting systems (Flash, TWR, ITL, Dialight, etc.)

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Climb telecommunications structures exceeding 500 feet.
  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Perform physically demanding work in elevated environments.
  • Safely rig, install, troubleshoot, and inspect wireless equipment.
  • Work in confined spaces and at extreme heights while maintaining constant awareness of safety.

Work Environment

  • Approximately 95% of work is performed outdoors.
  • Regular exposure to rain, snow, heat, wind, and varying weather conditions.
  • Work may occur on communication towers, rooftops, water tanks, monopoles, buildings, billboards, and other elevated structures.
  • Extended travel is required, including overnight stays and travel for up to two weeks at a time.
  • Typical workdays are 10 hours or more depending on project requirements.
