YARD WORKER

Key Duties & Responsibilities

·         Assist customers with loading their vehicles.

·         Assist with yard returns and exchanges.

·         Receive inbound material and put away.

·         Complete work orders and receiving documents accurately.

·         Help maintain excellent lumber yard presentation.

·         Operate Forklift and banding equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

·         Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and dolly.

·         Accurately loads trucks according to outgoing invoices.

·         Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.

·         Treats all customers and their agents with courtesy and respect.

·         Loads vehicle safely and accurately.

·         Complies with all company safety standards.

·         Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies.

·         Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.

   Complete special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 1-2 years operating a forklift and other motorized and manual equipment in a lumber yard setting a plus.
• Must have license to operate forklift or be able to become certified upon employment.

• Must be able to pass a background check and submit to drug and alcohol testing.

  ·         Must have a positive and flexible attitude with a strong attention to detail.

  ·         Must be able to work M-F from 7am to 4pm, with some overtime requirements.

  Work Environment & Physical Demands

  ·         Will be exposed to all types of weather on a regular basis.

  ·         Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weight (up to 50 lbs.) regularly

  ·         Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.

  ·         Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary.
